Finally, the last month of the year has arrived. Our team; N-BMR and family went out for the end of the year party after we all have worked hard for the whole year. This round, 2 students received extra awards sponsored by Dr. Pissuwan. As well, Dr. Pissuwan received a very good opportunity to attend the workshop on AMR.

On November 19, we had a good chance to attend a meeting “Environmental Health: The Road to Thailand 4.0” organized by Center of Excellent of Environmental Health and Toxicology” at Chulabhorn Research Institute.

This month, Associate Professor Pornpan Pungpo , Head of Department of Chemistry, at UBU kindly visited us for research discussion.

The paper entitled “Biological responses of T cells encapsulated with polyelectrolyte-coated gold nanorods and their cellular activities in a co-culture system” has been accepted to be published in Applied Nanoscience. Porntida Wattanakul is the first author of this article.

During September 11-13, Dr.Pissuwan was a keynote speaker in International Workshop on Health Risk Assessment of Nanoparticles. She received the funding supports from Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology to attend this workshop. Over there, she gave a lecturer entitled “Nanotoxicology: Biological and cellular effects of different nanoparticles”.

This month we congratulated Dr. Supansa Kongseng for her achievement. We also congratulated to Dew our former member for completing his first degree from the university..

A small lab trip for graduate students was organized.

This new semester we welcome a new PhD student; Ms. Porntida Wattanakul (Materials Science and Engineering Program, She decided to extend her research study with our N-BMR group. All N-BMR members congratulated that Porntida receives “ Academic Merit Scholarship” for her PhD study. We also welcome a foreign student; Mr. Chanthar Soe,. Chanthar worked in a company in Myanmar. He contacted N-BMR laboratory and proposed his interest on using nanoparticles for biomedical applications. Lastly, we also welcomed 4 new undergraduate students (Materials Science and Nano Engineering Program) who are interested to be on the same boat with us.

On August 11, we welcomed undergraduate students of Materials Science and Nano Engineering Program to visit N-BMR laboratory to gain the knowledge how nanobiomaterials can be applied in biomedical applications.

July 2017 Congratulations to Porntida Wattanakul for passing her thesis defense on July 25. She has done a decent work on her student journey. We also congratulated that she has a published article in conference proceedings.

On July 20, N-BMR members attended MUSC research forum. In this research forum, N-BMR members received a good chance to learn interesting research stories from Prof. Adrian Mulholland and Dr. Annela Seddon from Bristol University. Dr. Annela Seddon also kindly visited our N-BMR lab.

On July 14, three undergraduate students (Ploy, Namwan, and Jean from Materials Science and Nano Engineering Program) presented their research during the semester break. Khing and Aye also did well on their research reports.

This month, Dr. Pissuwan attended UK-Thailand Workshop on Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases organized during May 17-19, 2017. This workshop was kindly supported by MRC (Medical Research Council), TRF (Thailand Research Fund), NSTDA, and Newton Fund.

The work from N-BMR group entitled “Comparison effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles on immune cells in adaptive and innate immune system” was recently accepted to be published in IET Nanobiotechnology. And, Dr. Pissuwan was also awarded for Royal Golden Jubilee PhD advisor.

On May 26, 2017, Ms. Chanisara Kaewsasan had a poster presentation in the 18th Science Project Exhibition, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.

Ms. Chanisara Kaewsasan (a student from Medical Scholar Program; MSP) gave a final presentation on her undergraduate research project on May 30, 2017.

Dr.Pissuwan gave a lecture entitled “Nanotechnology: Applications in Food and Nutrition” to students of Nutritional Program, Mahidol University on April 7, 2017.

We also congratulated to our former member Suchakree Tubtimkuna (Dew) for passing the entrance examination to attend Master Program at VISTEC.

Dr.Pissuwan attended and provided a flash talk at Bristol Tackles Global Challenges Workshop during March 13-17, 2017 with a kind support from BristolBridge Project, Bristol University.

On January 20, Dr.Pissuwan received a very good opportunity from Dr. Somchai Thanasitthichai and his research team to give a talk entitled “Gold nanoparticles: How they can involve in biomedical applications” at National Cancer Institute (NCI, Thailand).

Dr. Pissuwan joined TRF – OHEC Annual Congress 16 where she presented the research poster there.
