 News

We went out for the end of the year party (Bōnenkai) after everybody has spent time on doing research for a whole year. This year N-BMR has organized the best performance award to members who have presented excellent research outcome. The awards were sponsored by Dr.Pissuwan.

In the meantime, the book chapter entitled “Monitoring and tracking metallic nanobiomaterials in vivo written by Dr. Pissuwan has been released.

Another activity this month is that Dr. Dakrong Pissuwan attended and gave an oral presentation at The 8th Princess Chulabhorn International Science Congress during November 13-17, 2016. The presentation entitled “Biological effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles on human immune cells” was held on November 17, 2016.

In the meantime at the same congress, Ms. Sunisa Chaicherd attended and presented her poster there with the poster entitled “Effect of gold nanoparticles on cell viability of fibroblast and macrophage cells” on November 14-15, 2016. We would like to give a big thank to Center of Excellent on Environmental Health and Toxicology for their kind supports us to have a great opportunity to be in this congress.

We also attended the special event organized by Center of Excellent on Environmental Health and Toxicology along with other students from Toxicology Program, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University at Chulabhorn Research Institute on November 13.

N-BMR research group joined Mahidol University Open House. This year we showed our new type of nanoparticles that can kill drug resistant bacteria. We also provided our cream containing our anti-drug resistant bacterial materials as a prototype cream. Together with our questionnaire, we received nice feedback from high school students and other visitors who stopped by to visit our research show. The further good news is that some high school students are interested in Materials Science and Nano Engineering Undergraduate Program after knowing about the program!!!

This month our N-BMR team joined a great moment on a graduation of Dr. Patinya Sukwong. We congratulate for his achievement. He is now working as a lecturer at Suan Dusit University. We also thank for his kind thought to give a donation to N-BMR family. With his donation together with other private funding, N-BMR’s members can have a printer used in the laboratory. We all are appreciated for his kind support and his contribution to the group. We also congratulate to our new coming members Ms. Preyaphat Tharin and Ms. Sasima Chotithammakul for recently completing their Master degree as well.

Another news is that Dr. Pissuwan was appointed to be an Associate Editor of journal Micro & Nano Letters.

Congratulations Dr.Patinya Sukwongs
This month Patinya Sukwongs has completed his PhD. Congratulations Dr.Patinya Sukwongs. His thesis is "Toxic effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles and multi-walled carbon nanotubes in vitro and in vivo". We would like to thank Nattapon Pornnumpa for his contribution on his short work with us. He now moves to his next goal. We wish him the best of luck on his future path.

Dr. Dakrong Pissuwan gave a lecurer entitled "The role of gold nanoparticles in biomedical applications" to graduate students at Faculty of Pharmacology, Silpakorn University.
